A lifelong advocate for community safety, public service, and effective leadership.
Glen Duffy is a lifelong advocate for community safety, public service, and effective leadership. With more than 30 years of experience in mining, emergency response, and health and safety leadership, Glen has built his career on listening, problem-solving, and delivering results.
As a third-generation mine rescuer — a proud Draegerman — Glen knows what it means to put others first. Today, he serves as Vale's Workplace Health, Disability Management and Mine Rescue Superintendent in Sudbury, where his team earned recognition for their role in the safe rescue of 39 miners from the Totten Mine in 2021.
As a resident of Ward 2, Glen believes strong communities are built by the people who live and play in them. He is committed to bringing Ward 2 back to City Hall by ensuring residents are heard, respected, and represented on the issues that matter most.
A focused platform built on evidence, community input, and a vision for a stronger, more connected Ward 2.
I will support practical decisions at council that make it easier for local businesses, and contractors, to grow without unnecessary delays or red tape.
I will advocate investments that support jobs connected to mining, construction, trades, infrastructure upgrades, recreation, and small businesses.
Growth must fit the community. I will push for responsible planning that respects existing neighbourhoods, protects green space, and ensures roads, water, wastewater, drainage, and services can support our future growth.
Ward 2 is well positioned to benefit from Sudbury's mining supply and economy, while also promoting local recreation assets, trails, lakes, ski hill, and community events that bring people into our businesses and neighbourhoods.
Ward 2 residents want safe streets, safe parks, and services that respond. I will work with Greater Sudbury Police, fire services, and paramedics, community groups, schools, local service clubs, and neighbourhood organizations to address concerns before they become larger problems.
These challenges are not limited to downtown Sudbury. Ward 2 needs to support a balanced approach that helps people in crisis.
Ward 2 families rely on our local parks, playgrounds, trails, arenas, the Lively Ski Hill, lakes, and recreation spaces. I will advocate for proper maintenance, lighting where appropriate, and a space that provides protection from the elements, and address safety concerns when raised.
Strong communities need activities and support for every stage of life. I will support affordable recreation, youth sports, seniors' programming, family events, and partnerships that keep people connected close to home.
Roads and winter maintenance are daily quality-of-life issues in Ward 2. I will push for attention to our rural roads, residential streets, main routes, sidewalks, ditching, drainage, and snow clearing across all of Ward 2.
Ward 2 has older infrastructure in established communities and growing pressure in developing areas. I will support proper investment in water, wastewater, stormwater, culverts, bridges, and roads so residents are not impacted when failure forces emergency repairs.
Ward 2 needs housing that allows seniors to downsize, young families to stay, and workers to live close to where they work. I will support housing growth that is properly serviced, fits the community, and includes affordable options.
Reusing vacant lots, older properties, and underused commercial spaces can strengthen Ward 2. I will support redevelopment that improves neighbourhood appearance, creates local opportunity, and makes better use of existing services.
Ward 2 residents deserve a councillor who listens first, gathers the facts, and makes decisions. I will be clear about why I support or oppose decisions at City Hall.
Ward 2 covers several distinct communities, each with different concerns. I will hold meetings in those local locations and ensure residents from Lively, Copper Cliff, Naughton, Whitefish, Beaver Lake, Worthington, and rural areas have opportunities to be heard.
Residents should not have to search for answers. I will provide clear updates on road work, construction, planning applications, recreation issues, emergency notices, budget decisions, and matters affecting Ward 2.
Taxpayers in Ward 2 expect basic services to be reliable and spending to be responsible. I will focus on priorities such as roads, infrastructure, recreation, emergency services, and community safety, while questioning spending that does not deliver value.
Ward 2 is built on volunteers who support minor sports, service clubs, recreation programs, community events, trails, seniors' activities, and local fundraising. I will make sure these groups are partners in building our community.
Small improvements matter. Clean entrances, well-maintained public spaces, community gardens, signage, litter cleanup, and beautification projects can strengthen pride in Lively, Copper Cliff, Naughton, Whitefish, Beaver Lake, Worthington, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
The best solutions often come from the people closest to the issue. I will work directly with residents, businesses, schools, and city staff to address problems quickly and practically.
Ward 2 needs representation that shows up. I will be present at community events, responsive to calls and emails, and committed to following up so residents know their concerns are being taken seriously.
"Ward 2 deserves strong leadership that listens, acts, and delivers results. My commitment is to improve infrastructure, support economic growth, and ensure residents have strong representation at City Hall. Together, we can create Ward 2 that is vibrant, connected, and ready for the future."
— Glen Duffy
